We have been reading alphabet books and reviewing letter identification and letter sounds. We decided to make some letter pretzels with the students.
First we added the yeast and water.
Then we added honey.
Next we added flour.
Then we added salt.
Finally we added the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mixed them together.
Once everything was mixed together we passed the bowl around and asked them to describe what they saw. - smells like bread and looks like milk (Owen) - smells like a gingerbread man (Elijah) - looks like glue and slime (Addison) - smells like bread (Matthew) - smells like some ice cream (Eric) - there are bubbles (Nash)
Each student was given a piece of dough to shape into the first initial of their name. They did a great job!
We decided to grow a vegetable garden in the aquarium in our room. We first brainstormed what we would need in order for our vegetable garden to grow. The students decided we needed seeds, water, dirt and sun.
First we added soil to the aquarium.
Next we added four different types of seeds. We planted radishes, carrots, peppers and peas. We placed them in a row so we could keep track of which plant was which.
Then we watered our garden.
Finally we placed our garden in the sun.
We took daily pictures to watch and track the growth of our plants. Take a look.
We created a Garden Journal for the students to record, using pictures and words, their own observations of the plant process.
